About This Teaching
A meditator asks Ajahn Dtun what to do when a bright light appears during breath meditation and draws the attention: should they keep following the rise and fall of the breath, or turn to the light?
Ajahn Dtun says the breath is the usual object. If brightness arises and focusing on it makes the mind peaceful, it is acceptable to change the focus to the light. When the brightness fades, return to the breath. The answer is practical and flexible, using whichever object keeps the mind calm.
