About This Answer
Sometimes the mind lets go of its meditation object on its own; should it be re-established? Ajahn Dtun's answer, as interpreted, is to let it go. A meditation word such as a repeated phrase helps establish mindfulness and concentration, and as the mind grows peaceful the word may vanish by itself. There is no need to worry about this.
Instead, one keeps attention on the awareness present in the mind and rests in that emptiness, for a short or a long period. When thinking and movement start again in the mind, one returns to the meditation object and re-establishes awareness there.
