About This Teaching
A questioner asks Ajahn Dtun how to understand the teaching of non-self. He replies that while practice is not yet well developed, a correct grasp of it is very difficult, because a mind still strongly attached to the body cannot really understand what non-self is.
What is needed, he says, is to keep practising sila, samadhi and panna, and to give rise to insight by contemplating the nature of the body. In his words, no one can let go of attachment to self without contemplating the body; understanding comes gradually through that work.
