About This Teaching
Ajahn Chah offers a short reflection to meditators bothered by traffic noise. Rather than the noise disturbing us, he asks, isn't it we who go out and disturb the noise?
He calls the opposite belief a wrong view that produces suffering. If we think the noise is the problem, we aim our remedies at the traffic or at other people instead of at the real cause, and with wrong view suffering has no end. He asks listeners to look for this view in their own minds and to take his words away and consider them: it is we who disturb the sound, not the sound that disturbs us.
